Silence is not an option
The ignorance of many political decision-makers – from the federal and state levels, through administrative districts and counties, right down to the local authorities – sometimes seems to know no bounds.
This attitude is supported by an administration that often implements political directives consistently – not infrequently without sufficient regard for the people affected, our environment, technical considerations or common sense.
How much longer are we going to accept that our concerns are ignored, our voices are not heard and our livelihoods are being put at risk?
Protests, vigils and demonstrations are important and can make a difference. But they alone are no longer enough. That is why I have started writing personal letters to political and administrative decision-makers – clear, direct and impossible to ignore.
I am making these letters publicly available on this page – along with any replies I receive.
Use the letters as a template, adapt them to your own situation, and use them to lend weight to your own voice. The more people who voice their concerns clearly and persistently, the harder it will be for those in charge to continue ignoring them.
No one should be able to claim later that they knew nothing about it.
